7 Fall Wedding Trends

We’re now less than a month away from the autumnal equinox, and you know what that means…it’s time to dish on the latest fall wedding trends! If you’re in the midst of planning final details for your fall wedding, the clock is ticking (quite loudly, I might add!). However, I’m always happy to provide a little fashionable inspiration whenever possible. For those of you still deciding bouquet colors, cake flavors or the latest looks for your wedding, opt for the season’s hottest trends.

The best thing about fall weddings is that autumn allows guests and the wedding party to head outdoors without enduring the torturous heat, and the colors of the season make gorgeous outdoor photo opps! But beyond the glorious weather and the perfect colors, here are seven trends that will put a little extra spice into your fall festivities:

Falling for Color

1

If you want the most on-trend colors for your bouquets, always look to the color forecast from Pantone. This Fall, colors will be rich and delectable. Many hues are named and inspired by fall staple food and drinks. Think Tawny Port (a deep wine), Grenadine (a bright orange red), Butterum (a light caramel hue), Golden Lime and Autumn Maple (the color of…rich maple syrup). But a few of Pantone’s picks also pull from nature, including Navy Peony, Shaded Spruce and Marina (a crisp blue). Neutral Grey and Ballet Slipper (a pale blush pink) round out the shades that will be popular this fall.

Mix and match hues to create fashionable bouquets. Choose Ballet Slipper hued roses like Sweet Avalanche or Vendela. Add port colored orchids for a contrast and mix in lots of greenery.  Or pair up flowers that pull from Grenadine’s hue and mix in deep blue navy-inspired flowers. Mix and match hue to play with contrast, but make sure they pair well with the wedding party’s chosen palette.

Naked Cakes

The Knot reports that more couples are opting away from lots of frosting on their cakes. The hottest trend is the naked cake, which features exposed layers of cake with frosting in between each layer. Choose pumpkin or spice cakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting between the layers for a taste of the season. Simple decorations like flowers and greenery usually adorn these minimalist edible masterpieces.

Fall Foods

Fall is known for rich and hearty foods. Add a taste of fall to your menu with a hearty soup before dinner or savor autumn in dessert form. It’s perfectly acceptable to skip the traditional cake and feature pies—choose in-season favorites like blueberry, pumpkin, apple or pecan. Having a southern wedding? Why not opt for sweet potato?

The Dress

1

Kate Middleton’s long lace sleeves are still in favor by fall brides. However, Brides reports that statement accessories also are trendy for autumn. Feathers and ruffles also adorn many dresses as key style accents. As for the silhouette, every woman should choose a look that she loves…don’t bow to trends when it comes to how a dress fits your body! Some women love ballgowns, others love sheaths or a-line. It’s your day, so pick a dress you LOVE.

Natural Hair

1

Your hair, your style! Harper’s Bazaar notes that 2017 brides are embracing their natural hair texture. Got curls? Rock them! As for the groom, it’s perfectly ok to rock a beard too…but if you opt to shave off any major facial hair before the ceremony, make sure you use a lotion to avoid those crazy post-shave bumps !

The Groom

1

Say goodbye to the black tux. Harper’s Bazaar also clued us in that blue suits are the wardrobe staple for style savvy grooms! And, no, this is not the same blue suit that Steve Martin wore in “Father of the Bride!”

Portrait Studios

Traditional photography? So last year! According to Glamour, more couples are embracing portrait studios—as in personalized portraits—at their wedding! To add more personality to the portraits, couples also are choosing to have on-site illustrators for a custom sketch of their wedding day.

Get inspired for your fall wedding by embracing the latest trends this season! Whether you pull in the hottest hues, rock your natural hair or say goodbye to the traditional tux, create personalized touches that are true to you!
