Be A Radiant Bride With Flawless Skin

A bride’s beauty elevates on the wedding day. Almost every bride strives to appear exquisite, and the normal everyday beauty routine often is tossed for more drama and definition. While some brides want full-face glamour, others want subtle beauty with natural appeal. No matter how you define beauty for your wedding day, every great look starts with healthy skin.

Planning a wedding is incredibly stressful. When that event stress is combined with the craziness of typical daily pressures and deadlines, the burden of the piled-high responsibilities can take a toll on body…and on skin.  Ensuring that skin stays healthy should be every bride’s goal…because healthy skin is naturally radiant.

If stress and fatigue is taking a toll on your skin, try these easy hacks to help skin stay happy, nourished and glowing.

Spa Treatments

If the budget allows, head to the spa for a massage and a facial.  A massage helps relieve those kinks and knots from built-up tension and stress. And, really, a massage just makes the entire body feel relaxed and at peace. Schedule a facial several weeks before the wedding, just in case the face becomes red from treatments. Facials will help cleanse the pores and treat the skin for a more radiant wedding complexion.

DIY Face Masks

For budget strained brides, tend skin at home. Make a delicious face mask out of honey, yogurt and oatmeal to soothe skin and gently exfoliate. While you may find fantastic recipes for sugar scrubs on the web, be careful when using sugar on the face…the grains may tear skin. However, sugar is a natural humectant, and DIY sugar scrubs are great for the body.

Protect Skin after Shaving

Shaving can be extremely irritating for skin. Be sure to moisturize after shaving, and never dry shave (always use some type of lubricant to help the razor glide). To minimize the occurrence of ingrown hairs, shave with the hair growth…not against it.

Don’t Sleep in Make-Up

Maybe you had a long night out, or perhaps you burned the midnight oil at work. No matter how exhausted you feel, do not skip a face wash at night! To keep skin in great condition and pores clean, do not sleep with makeup on your face. Use a gentle cleanser to wash away any foundation, blush and eye makeup. If you find that waterproof mascara refuses to budge, use coconut oil to gently remove mascara from lashes…it works really well!

Exfoliate

Don’t exfoliate daily, but many dermatologists recommend exfoliating at least once or twice each week. Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells and reveal healthier skin. You can use drugstore scrubs or make your own. Need a jolt of energy? Try a caffeinated scrub made with coffee grounds and olive oil.

Sun Protection

Always protect skin from the sun. Red painful burns, brown sunspots and premature wrinkles all come from warm wonderful sun rays. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends everyone use a water resistant sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or greater. Reapply after sweating, swimming or toweling off…or per the instructions on the bottle. For extra protection, wear a wide-brimmed hat to shield the face. And stay away from tanning beds! If you want a natural glow for your wedding day, use a quality sunless tanner!
