Below is the list of the things you should do for a summer wedding, or any wedding:

  1. RSVP in a Timely Manner

The bride and groom probably face a lot of difficult decisions with regards to their wedding day. Since there can only be a limited number of visitors, choosing who to invite is not easy. If you happen to receive an invitation, RSVP as soon as possible. Follow through your RSVP a week before the big day and only cancel if there is an unavoidable circumstance. Cancel it ahead of time so they can use your spot to invite other people.

 2.  Gifting 101

If you are going to a wedding, you are probably thinking about giving a gift to the bridal couple. It is usual for every family to have one representative present in the bridal shower. That is the perfect time to hand your gift. If you fail to attend the bridal shower, gifts should be sent ahead of time, or up to one year after the wedding. This technically means that no one should present their gifts during the ceremony or the reception.

4. Dress the Part

When you receive your invitation, you may get too excited about thinking what to wear during that day. While you want to be in your best look, there are things you should know before choosing or buying your clothes. The general rule is to not wear white. Also, you do not want to wear anything that is overly revealing, and not looking wrinkled or messy. Stay away from jeans, denim, and flip flops, too.

Although, most of the invitations already dictate the dress code for the event. Below are some examples of these dress codes and what you should wear.

  • White Tie – Men should wear a tuxedo with a white pique vest and a bow tie together with a pair of formal black shoes. While women should wear a floor-length, formal ball gown. Glamourousmakeup and sparkling jewelry will look good with it.
  • Black tie – Male visitors should wear atuxedo with a black bow tie and a pair of leather shoes. On the other hand, female guests can opt to wear a long evening gown or a decent looking cocktail dress.
  • Beach Formal –Gentlemen should wear summer suit with alinen shirt, linen pants and paired with sandals. Ties are not required and khakis can be a substitute. Ladies should choose a knee-length summer sundress that looks formal coupled with flat sandals. Hair and makeup can stay natural.
  • Casual or Daytime – Men should wear dress pants with polo while women a summer themed skirt or pants paired with a nice blouse, makeup and hair can also be just natural.

5. Silence Your Phone

The couple probably has hired an expert photographer and videographer to document their special day. You don’t want your ringtone to be heard on that video presentation or to disrupt the ceremony itself so make sure to turn your phone into silent mode. It can help other guests to stay focus on the event. If you have to answer an important call, you can go outside before answering it.

However, you can use your phone as much as you want to take pictures of you and other guests. Many couples have thought about a special wedding hashtag and make sure you will use them when you upload your pictures to social media.

6. Wedding Party Responsibilities

If you are asked to participate in a wedding party, you should be familiar with your responsibilities. If you are included in the list of bridesmaids, or if you are the maid of honor, you are anticipated to help the bride to details before and after the wedding ceremony. This may include hosting the bridal shower, running errands, or stuffing invitations. Additionally, the groomsmen also have the same obligation to the groom. They are typical with the groom during the bachelor’s party and they arrange the transportation of the couple after the reception.

If you are chosen to be an usher or an usherette, you may have fewer but important responsibilities to keep the wedding organized. They are normally tasked with assisting the guest to their designated seats, and they are the one who passes out the guest book to make sure everyone can have the opportunity to write.
